Having been with us for years Dinky is now very much part of our family and is only for sale if to remain at Lavant House Stables. A small pony with a big personality, Dinky originated from Southern Ireland, and has been exposed to all types of competition, hunting and Pony Club Camps. Dinky looks like the perfect mini version of a quality show hunter but he is never going to go any faster than his small jockey would like. He is also safe and sensible to handle from the ground, being good to box, clip, shoe, etc.

Eric has been in this area for most of his life, being owned previously by a renowned Driving family, which means Eric is broken to ride and drive – not that we ask him to do the latter any more! He is again that rarity of a first pony that you know will give children a passion for ponies for life. Perhaps what makes Eric even more unusual is his wonderfully smooth, one speed canter, so perfect for children to first learn this faster pace without fear. Eric also has to be one of the cutest looking little ponies you are ever likely to see.

Todd has now been with us for many years and settled well into his role introducing many small children to the pleasures of riding, including the proprietor’s daughter who took him off site to a wide range of Pony Club activities, Camps and competitions. Todd really is a mother’s dream of a pony because he is just about the safest pony one can get, being well manned both when ridden and on the ground.

Treat Blue Boy kindly and he is a pony that will do anything for you within his capability – he is also very much a pony who appreciates a quiet life. As like so many of our ponies he is safe and sensible with no risk of going any faster then he should, knows how to walk, trot and canter politely on both reins, jump a course of small fences and will hack out agreeably.

Squeak has now been with us for six years now and has successfully introduced many small children into the pleasure of horse-riding. Squeak is a cheeky chap but also safe and well-trained, whether being ridden or when being handled on the ground.

Suitable as a first or second pony and is also broken to harness. Sufficiently good looking and well conformed to also show.

This is a very attractive, well-bred pony from a local home and has proven to be uncomplicated and willing to learn. Having spent the first part of his working life being driven he arrived a little green under the saddle, but he has picked up everything very quickly and has also proven to be an honest and straightforward pony in all ways. He is now trained to walk, trot and canter on both reins, jump a small set of fences and hack out agreeably.

Suitable as a first or second pony and is chunky enough to carry a range of child sizes.

Joey is quiet enough to give confidence as a first pony but is also able to offer that little bit more such as competing at local shows. 100% to ride and handle, he is what every parent is looking for to safely introduce their children into horse riding and ownership.

Competitive child or teenYOBr/small adult.

Penny is a striking-looking mare, who despite her diminutive size deserves to be taken seriously. She has three excellent paces for affiliated dressage and is also an athletic forward-going jumping machine. The more Penny does the better she gets and what definitely does not suit her is standing in a field doing nothing. For those seeking a small, sound and good looking horse, who is easy and inexpensive to keep, without vice and really wants to work and get on with things. A totally underutilized mare that has such a lot to offer to the Riding/Pony Club owner and affiliated competitor at the lower levels.

Adult or teenYOBr seeking a good looking first horse who is safe, does it all, and is easy to handle.

We came across Mackie recently by accident when a friend of Lucy’s advised that we really must buy this horse when he became unexpectedly available on the market. Totally straightforward, experienced in all disciplines and hacking, safe, and already highly popular amongst us all here, he catches the eye and will definitely be a real catch for the person who chooses to make him their own.
